Question:
Hi folks, hopefully pretty simple problem. Brand new ST224P snowblower. Gas in, 5W-30 oil in. First inserted the ignition key, then flipped the switch to "Run" (On), then turned the choke from "Closed" to "Open", then primed the engine three times, then pulled the rope a bunch of times, it did not start. I let it rest for a few minutes, pulled the rope again, no start. I then primed the engine a couple more times, pulled the rope, and it started. Turned the choke back to the "Closed" position and let the engine warm up.
It sounded a bit clunky at first, then got in a rhythm, then promptly shut down. I repeated the above process to same results. The only way I can get the engine to keep running is to keep the choke in the "Open" position, which is contrary to the instructions and not something I feel comfortable doing, as the engine still sounds clunky that way.
Any ideas why the engine keeps shutting down after less than a minute of running?
Answer
That not the instructions I see in the owners download here. It right backward on the choke use.
