    Question:
My RZ5426 had less than 1 hr on it and it refused to start yesterday. As a mechanical engineer I was able to deduce it is highly probable that the condition is due to a faulty solenoid, by:
    1. Checking battery voltage (12.3) - OK
    2. Jumping tractor battery to my car battery - would not start, just the solenoid clicking indicating trying to establish contact
    3. Directly connect car 12V to starter motor terminal - motor operational
    4. After about 25 tries of turning switch to start position it connected and engine started.
    5. Checking voltage at starter motor when key turned to start position (varied from .4 - 1.1)

To make life easy on everyone I just thought let me get Husqvarna to send me the solenoid and I will replace it myself. If my diagnosis is wrong I will pay for the part. This is a win win or so I thought.

Calling customer support 800 487 5951 was a frustrating experience as the customer service rep wanted about $26 for the part, and mentioned my warranty did not cover this. I asked to speak to someone else and she gave me 800 365 5040. This is for construction equipment so they referred be back to the number I first called. Trying to call back I was caught in the voice mail glitch that continued to disconnect me.

Next I decided to call Lowes as perhaps they have a little more clout with Husqvarna than me. They confirmed why I like them, they offered to replace the mower as I had it for under 30 days. I felt guilty, a little $15 (what I can buy the solenoid online for) issue and they are going to turn this into a several hundred dollar problem?

I have an extremely bad feeling about Husqvarna now and hope if I keep my mower that I never have to deal with a warranty issue without the backing of someone like Lowes.

So my question is; can Husqvarna see the logic of my ways and figure out how to work with me in an efficient and effective manner to save us all time and effort?
