    Question:
I just purchased an HU700L self propelled mower. The speed of the self propelled rear wheel drive has dropped by more than half. This occured the first time I used the mower. I had only made approximately five passes on my lawn when this happened. Is this normal? I had to adjust the turnbuckle to get more speed and yet it never returned to it's initial speed. Is this an indication that I have a bad mower? If so I'll take it back to Lowes for a replacement. Other than that I like the mower.

Thank you for contacting Answer ARMY.

The drive system we uses varies the ground speed by allowing the belt to slip, when full speed is not required. The adjustment is on the conduit of the cable. If you have followed the operators guide for adjustments and the ground speed is not correct, then we would suggest you contact the local Husqvarna authorized service center to have the mower inspected. If the cable is properly adjusted and the handle fully squeezed the mower should propel at full speed.

Please visit http://www.husqvarna.comat the top right side of the screen we have the dealer locator, input your zip code to find the local Husqvarna service center.

I have the same issue, except that my levers are difficult to depress to make the mower go.  IS there any way to soften this lever to make this easiler.
