Question:
The driver on my 440 just cracked and now the rope won't retract without loosening the four screws on the starter housing. I have only had the saw since 09/07/15. Is this covered under the warranty or is this a wearable part that will not be covered?

Just my personal opinion here as I don't know the Husqvarna warranty policies.
Although this is a wearable component over long term it should not have failed in this short time frame as it not a consumable item like bars, chains, and clutch drums. You probably will find the there is more damage than just the starter pulley shown. Carry the saw back the dealer you purchase it from for their opinion on this failure.

Just my opinion too, but I second Eugenes' evaluation that there is definitely something else going on here.
I would also recommend taking back to the Dealer.
