    Question:
Do I need to change the oil after 5hrs on my YTA 22V46 tractor?

I have a YTA 22V46 riding tractor, purchased from Lowe's in April of 2016. When it was delivered, there was no manual or other extra parts. The Lowe's employee who delivered it said, "Make sure to change the oil after 5hrs, since its new".

After Lowe's promised to mail the manual and never did, I went to the store - what I got was a quick reference guide, oil tube, and a manual for Briggs & Stratton engines - not the mower manual. In that manual it references changing the oil on an engine if it does not have an oil filter - that's it. (Of course the YTA 22V46 has a oil filter).

So, is it necessary? I cant find that referenced in the online Manual, but I don't want to wreck my brand new mower either.

    Thanks

I know it may sound dumb because you have a filter but that is recommend procedure when we rebuild an engine and this goes for a new engine as well. The reasoning behind it that even as well we clean an engine during the building process some grit and metal can get left behind and can quickily do damage if not removed. In the case of oil filter it can possibly fill it to the point that bypass valve opens which then the oil filter no longer filters the oil.

It better to safe then to have problems later because it wasn't done.
