Sounds like the carburetor fuel mixture setting are too lean and needs retuning. Your local Husqvarna dealer or service center should be able to do this for you.

      Donny,

I agree with Eugene, Its an "Autotune" Chainsaw so If its a Carburetor problem you will need to take it to an Authorized Husqvarna Dealer, make sure they have the capability to adjust "Autotune".

But before running off to a repair center,  I would also check your choke and throttle controls and make sure they are working as described in your operating manual, and that you are following those directions for starting the chainsaw. It almost sounds like you still have the saw on choke and it never gets to the run position.

A simple test, and you do Not need to run the chainsaw:

      1. Simply pull out on the choke lever and move it up to the choke position, next squeeze the throttle trigger and observe the choke lever, it should drop down to the "run" position.

      2. Next, Simply pull out on the choke lever and move it up to the choke position, and then press it down one notch to the run position, Note: This is actually the warm start position. Now listen carefully for a little click when you squeeze the throttle trigger. If you did not hear the click, then repeat this step. (Note: The little click is resetting the throttle to the fully closed position, when you put the chainsaw in choke or in the warm start position, you are also pre-setting the throttle just a little bit open) so its a quick test.

      3. Finally, Push the choke lever all the way down, this is the "Stop" position, It should spring load back to the run position, If all the steps 1, 2, & 3, work then your controls are Ok, and its probably a carburettor problem.

The Model 550 "Autotune" is a great chainsaw, so I hope everything works out for you!

PS. I am Not a Husqvarna Representative or an Authorized Reppair, just an experimental chainsaw person.
