Question:
I have a 266xp that I purchased new. This is a fantastic saw, what new Husky compares to this saw. I am only using the saw for firewood and I have never had any problems with my saw, I would like to make it a backup and buy a new xp
Thanks
Mike
Answer
the 266 has a 50mm bore and a step up in hp would take you into the 576 category. while expensively overpriced, that 576 develops just under 6hp and when it is combined with a 20 or 24" bar with square ground full skip chisel type chain, it is an impressive saw that cuts double quick and is not too heavy. I do not recommend the autotune carburetor.
if you combine the 576xp or xpg model (heated handles&carb) with the tall cylinder cover, oversized HD felt air fiter, and a set of 5pt pro-safety felling dogs, you will have roughly $1050.00 in it. this is the combination I have in the 74cc category and I really like the speed thru cut and power/weight. this saw will drive a 36" bar/chain no problem, if you want to work it hard. anything that requires more reach than this, and I will use my 395xp super modified hotsaw. if you match up a skipper to this bad Oscar then you need to keep your beer covered if you don't want it flavored with wood chips.

the next step up would be a 372XP. by far the best saw that husqvarna has made since they brought this model out.
i have a 266SE and a 372XP.. and a ton of other pro saws.. if you are looking to spend money on an awesome saw, go with the 372 if you need a 70+CC saw.. if you just need a 66cc saw go with a 555 (59.8cc) (4.3hp) which is the same as your current 266XP. its an autotune saw and great runner. not nearly as expensive as a 372xp or 576xp... its a pro saw, not an XP saw but a PRO saw....
i have one for sale on craigslist right now.
