Catastrophic failure of FB 25 Featherlite blower power shaft. Has this been reported and is there a recall in effect?

I purchased your Weedeater FB25 Featherlite blower for small tasks around the yard.
While I know the unit is older than one year, I believe a recent failure actually represents a manufacturer defect and not a warranty claim.  While my wife was using the unit, it suddenly revved up higher than usual followed by noises which suggested something had broken and disintegrated.
Upon breaking the unit down it was obvious that the primary power shaft from the engine which spins the turbine which generates the wind power had snapped clear through the shaft resulting in the unit separating from the magneto and breaking the fins into numerous pieces.
The unit was never used for anything than blowing leaves off our driveway and nothing had ever lodged in the impeller to cause the shaft to come under severe stress which might cause such a catastrophic failure of the unit.
I was instructed by the 800 number to take it to Power Pros of Denver NC, but they looked at it and stated the obvious---it's ruined and appears to be outside of warranty.  I shared that a product failure like this should be important to the Company who manufacturers or sells it.  Power Pros was of no help.
I suspect this was a product failure due to an improper alloy used for this powershaft.  I can send a picture to show how the shaft was severed or drop it off on Statesville Rd, Charlotte as I don't live far away.  I'm trying to do you all a favor so others don't have the same bad experience.
