    Question:
I purchased one of the reconditioned 122HD45 hedge trimmers that came with a 30 day warranty. The first time I used it, it worked great. Two weeks later, (at day 40 from purchase, out of warranty) it started and ran for about 5 minutes then died. After looking in the tank, the fuel line that runs from the in tank filter to the feed line to the carburetor was completely cracked. After removing the fuel line from the tank I could tell the entire in tank fuel line was hardened and brittle most likely from ethanol in fuel. So please do not respond that ethanol destroys all fuel lines. I understand that ethanol will destroy all fuel lines that were not designed to resist it. If the canned answer is ethanol related, please answer why this product was built with outdated parts. Why did this fail this quickly, and why would any piece of equipment currently produced not be built to handle the fuel that is available at 98% of the fuel stations? The part number of the fuel line that was installed was 5443249, but the parts diagram lists the correct part as 5443250-02. Is one ethanol approved and the other not? Looking at many other internet posts, this seems to be a VERY common issue with this trimmer. Most seem to have to replace the fuel line and the carburetor parts at their own expense.
Now I am stuck with a worthless hedge trimmer that is 15 days out of warranty and will have to spend my money to repair a defective device. The Stihl line trimmers I have that have been running on the same fuel for the last 3+ years have never had a problem. Is this typical Husqvarna quality and customer service? I know my Stihl dealer would not let something like this get stuck on the consumer.
