    Question:
MZ5225 Control arms will not stay tight.

My mother and I both bought Husqvarna MZ5225 mowers in the fall of 2012. The control arms will not stay tight. I have tightened them on both mowers and no luck. Took my mom's mower in for service and asked them to fix the loose arms. The tech said that they were tightened as tight as they would go and there is nothing else he can do. Said if they were to tighten them any more they would break the aluminum "wing" off.

It is were the round handle lever mounts into the aluminum control lever. The loose arms make it hard to control the mower and is a safety issue.

What can be done to fix this issue on these 2 mowers? I suspect others have had this issue as well.

I do not have a solution, but i do have an 2014 MZ52LE with same problem. It is impossible to tighten the control arms, have been fighting this for over a year. They flop and swivel around making it difficult to accurately control the machine..... I have tightened them till the bolt "squeaks". The dealer has it now, if it cannot be remedied I will seek a different brand mower......  Very poor construction!!!

I looked at the next higher level of mowers and they have a square control arm instead of the round arms.  They were about $21 ea and I'm thinking about ordering a set to see if it fixes the problem.  I believe the square arm will have a lot more bearing surface which should hold it tighter.

Thank you much for this info. I really do like this mower BUT I refuse to battle these loose flopping rolling arms while trying to cut grass.... At every business carrying zero turns I look at this connection point and Husqvarna is the ONLY one using such poor construction... Will pass info on to dealer as it is still in warranty. I have more question for you. I thought these levers were supposed to return to neutral if turned loose while mowing, but will not. Do yours behave in the same manner? Thank you for this help.
