    Question:
Just purchases a ST111 single-stage snowblower and am wondering about the engine oil capacity. The manual indicates the oil capacity is 16 oz. However, when I filled the crankcase w/ approx. 16 oz. from the supplied 18 oz. container of 5W-30 oil it did not even register on the high oil fill dipstick. Even when filling it with the rest of the 18 oz. of the container the oil level on the dipstick was only about 3/16-inch up from the low point. There is no on the oil filler cap. Is this a sufficient amount of oil or should I add more? It seems as though the indicated 16 oz. capacity is incorrect, if so what is the right amount? Thank you.

      Michael,

From what I find the manual is supposedly correct according the LCT engine website. I tried looking up the ST111 on the Husqvarna website and I could only find one manual and no IPLs listed for the model. There is a but in here as the Poulan PR100 that uses supposedly the same engine OM manual says it is approximately 18 oz on oil changes. There always some left in the crankcase so would take slightly more to fill a completely dry engine.

The best way to verify it is filled correctly is remove one of the lower fill caps and with the engine level fill the crankcase until oil just start to run out this fill hole. Basically it is like filling the Briggs single cylinder horizontal engines.

Note: I am just a small independent shop owner and don't represent Husqvarna.

        Eugene:

Thanks much, I'll add a little more oil and won't worry about engine problems.
