    Question:
We have recently purchased a yth20k46 tractor (from Sears). I have a couple of questions. 1. The tractor has 2.8 hours on it and I have noticed both the drive belt and the mower belt can taken off of the engine pulley with no effort. Other words it seems the belts are too loose. The other question is I have noticed that going up hill I hear a rattling type sound that I believe is coming from the transmission is this normal? Also what should I use as a lubricant for the hitch points for the mower deck? It squeaks when it bounces.
    Thanks
    George

Thank you for contacting the AnswerARMY.

You are correct with the engine off and the belts in the disengaged position it is designed to be loose enough to be trapped with no drag on the belts. This is NORMAL.

The "rattling" when going up hill is not normal, The transmission will growl as the load increases for example when going up a hill but shouldn't rattle.

If you are going to lubricate the mower deck attachment points use something dry like grahite powder, oil or grease will attract dirt and potentially cause wear on thses points.

Please contact your local Sears service center to have the transmission "rattle" checked out.
