    Question:
EZ5224, Rear wheels rubbing on frame, how to fix?
    Details:

The rear wheels are rubbing on the frame of the mower, the tires are showing scrapes on the sides where the rubbing is occurring. All bolts on mount points are tight. The bolts on pipe between the pumps are tight. The wheels when you look at them from the rear look like they are bowed out at the bottom forcing the tops of the tires into the frame... Nothing looks bent on the hydraulic motor mount.

    Any thoughts?

Haven't work on your model but here is a couple things to check.

If the rear wheels have been off, make sure that the rim has are mounted dish out. On some mowers these wheels can flipped for narrower width.

Raise the rear of the mower with the wheels off the ground see if you can rock the wheel top to bottom checking for excessive play. Excessive would indicate badly worn axle housings.

i have the same problem - my issue happened when the bolt came out of cross bar between trans -support bracket developed a crack and eventually failed along with two front support brackets . tires rub frame and will in time ruin tires . had unit to dealer and got it back only to take it back for same issue. any one else have similar problems please post

Ha. I've been having the same problem for 3+ years. My local dealer said it's a horrible design. I agree. Spacer tubes bolts break alot. Trans mounts break a lot. When you are moving and it's not a 2 min fix. I'm very frusterated with this mower. Motor runs great it cuts great. Stupid design. I can't trade it in. I'd loose a lot of money. Almost have to buy a $300 back up garden tractor to do the job until you find the time to fix this lemon. I'd hate to sell it to somebody. I wouldn't screw someone over. Husqvarna will though.

i believe the manufacture knows of the problem but denies any responsibility because of cost . what i did was to put washers on lug bolts to move tire away from frame

I took it to one of my local Husqvarna dealers here and he contacted the local rep. It appears this is a known issue as they had made a spacer for moving the tires further out. The other issue I am noticing now is that the tires don't sit vertical, the bottoms angle out  like this  / \  It looks like the bottom cross bar that goes between the hydraulic units is too long. My guess is it is because they drilled the holes for the hydraulic units too close inside. It looks like I need to trim about a 1/2" off that tie rod to get the wheels angled correctly....

my wheels have same angle and thinking the same way you are with cross bar . i don't know  why they put the tires so close to the frame. i have 200 hours on my unit bought in 2010 and soon as i get it back from dealer it goes out to street for sale

i believe that the frame is not strong enough for the unit

i just got my ez5224 back from dealer again . the bottom line is this --your dealer is not going to do anything and husquavarna is not going to do anything so i think we should think in the lines of a class action suit. and the answer is to take unit to a local weld shop and have them align frame and weld braces to strengthen frame

it would be interesting to know how many people own a ez5224  and are getting no answers from husqvarna or there dealer with stuctual issues of this unit . mine is a 2010 model with 200 hours on it .  thanks      jim

I just posted a video about the bracket fix.    https://youtu.be/l7iCcbzdkuE

I also found out that the pulley was also damaged when the bracket broke. There are four different pulley assemblies for this hydraulic motor! The one my local Husqvarna dealer got for me was different than the original but it works...

Attached is the manual for the hydro-gear unit, you can see the various possibilities!
