    Question:
I have a ST227P Snow Thrower. It is less than 1 year old. I used it once this winter, and it will not come out of drive. Is this a cable adjustment? It was working great up until I tried to stop it...

Highly likely. I have a <1 year old ST224 and a similar problem. In my case, My single reverse speed is now a high-speed reverse, Forward 1 is slow reverse, Forward 2 is neutral. Forward 3 is slow forward, etc.

If you look at any number of You-Tube videos showing for friction disk propulsion on a snow thrower works, you will see that both the friction disk engage and "gear" select controls are subject to cable stretch problems if cheap cables are used.

In my case the cable stretch is *** up where on the drive disk the friction wheel engages (engage on one side of the drive disk, you have forward, on the other, reverse. The farther out on the disk you engage, the faster you go).  In your case, most likely, cable stretch is preventing friction wheel disengagement. Husqvarna provides turnbuckles on the cables to take out slack, but the owner's manual does not tell you which function each of them applies to, just some. And some are very hard to trace. Dumb.

Both problems are caused by Husqvarna not pre-stretching the cables and/or not using low stretch braided cable. Excessive stretch in under a year is inexcusable design.

I had an inexpensive Canadiana Snow King 2-stage thrower for 30 years and NEVER had a cable stretch problem. Ever. With the Husqvarna in less than one year the chute rotate cables and F/R cables have both stretched badly.

And Lowes, where I bought it, will not service it...I am to look for a Husqvarna service center.

      Should have bought an Ariens.
