    Question:
I just bought a Husqvarna 240 chain saw, but can't get it started. I followed the starting instructions carefully, filled it with 50/1 gas/oil mix, filled the chain oil reservoir, pulled the choke all the way out, checked that the stop button was raised, pushed the gas bulb 6 times, then pulled the cord 20 or 30 times without getting any sign of starting. I pushed the gas bulb several more times, then pulled the cord another 20 or 30 times. I tried it with the choke pushed in, just in case. I waited till the next day in case I had flooded it or something, then repeated the procedure with no results. (actually have tried it for 4 days in a row now with no results, not a sign of firing). I get no fuel smell, so I suspect it's not getting fuel for some reason. I pulled the spark plug and checked and it seems like it's getting a good spark. Could it be a problem with the carburetor or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you for contacting Answer ARMY.

George, lets get this to a local authoized service center to have them take a look at it. Not having a fuel smell does kind of indicate the unit is not getting fuel. The local Husqvarna dealer should be able to take a look at the unit for you.

You can find your local Husqvarna dealers for sales and service and parts as well as manuals using the link.

Your local dealer is your best and fastest source of information.

Husqvarna does not sell any parts direct. You must contact your local Husqvarna Service center for any and all parts and service as well as pricing. Any Husqvarna dealer should be able to order parts as needed.

I have the same issue with a brand new chainsaw.  I never thought it would fail right out of the box!  So, from the previous post, I take it that it is Husqvarna's policy to sell equipment that immediately needs to be serviced before it's first use.  I have been HAD and am not very happy about it!

I have carefully read all of the instructions that came with the saw.  I purchased Husqvarna premixed fuel and Husqvarna chain and bar oil for it.  I filled both tanks.  It started one time.  There are 2 issues with this saw:  1. It would not idle when it started.  2.  I was able to make 3 cuts with it.  I had to restart it each time because it will not idle.  After my 3rd and final cut, it would not restart at all!

I am a Very Dissatisfied customer and will never by another piece of Husqvarna equipment ever again!  I wish that I had not bought this one.......................
