    Question:
128CD trimmer STALLS...I have a 128CD string trimmer that's about 6 months old. I bought a reman unit from Husqvarna. The trimmer has begun stalling whenever I put it in run. It idles very high at half choke but will not remain running in run position. I've tried adjusting the idle screw but that doesn't seem to do anything. Appreciate any advise or help.

Being fairly new  it may a simple retune of the fuel mixture is needed. Requires special adjustment tool that most shops have.

Hopefully you don't the carburetor that have limiters installed as they need to be removed just to adjust the carburetor.

Just to clarify and eliminate some possible causes - the gas in the trimmer is fresh and has stabilizer in it. The air filter is pretty clean. Carburetor has not been rebuilt but with only about 15 hrs of run time on it, it should not need it.  Thanks for your replies.

Even some new carburetors need the fuel mixture tuned after an initial use. Even carburetors that have been cleaned, carburetor kit installed and adjusted may readjusting a few days later. I had to happen several times over last 6+ years that I have been repairing these.

I even found the metering set wrong from the OEM manufacture at times that causes problems. I even filters to fall off the fuel line and allows trash to plug the carburetor internal filter screens. Some these screens plug very easily too causing a fuel starvation problem.

I have a month old 224L (just gas), and after a few times using I'm having trouble with it stalling out as well when I squeeze lever. Could it be gas that's not fresh/stabilaizer as well?

What causes most stall out issue is that mixture setting are too lean. It can be either L or H setting but is usually the H setting.

Most carburetors are tuned for best low speed mixture and then the high speed is then tuned for best accelaration and power. Too lean will destroy pistons / cylinder and too rich will usually clog spark arresters and cause rings to stick. Most new carburetors are set at a base setting that normally works but for some equipment is not good enough and they require fine tuning.
