Question:
I own a 675AWD mower with a Kohler engine that won't start. It is about 3 years old. I replaced the plug and air filter with no effect. I have new 93 octane fuel in the tank (which was empty). I sprayed the carb with cleaner and it coughs to life for a second or two. The manual says there is a fuel filter but I cannot see it tracing the hose from the tank to the carb. All the models at Lowes no longer have Kohler engines but none of them seem to have an obvious fuel filter. Is there a fuel filter and how do you find it? The manual merely shows a fuel filter with tubes attached by themselves as figure 16. It looks like there isn't one. Thank you.

Answer
None of the ones I have service have filters though they get installed before leaving the shop.
In your case you try draining the carburetor by removing the fuel bowl nut but more likely the carburetor will need a good cleaning to remove the fuel deposits left by fuel as it dried up.
