    Question:
YTH22V42LS After my father passed away this winter, we've cracked open the barn this spring and I got his 2010 YTH22V42LS started for my mother.

Knowing my father, he wasn't the greatest with preventive maintenance. The air filter looks like a bird's nest and I have no idea the last time the oil was changed, if ever. I have spent this morning looking online for a tune-up kit to fit this B&S engine, but am coming up dry. Is there such a kit to help keep everything in one box? The one point I saw to the B&S site for a 22hp engine had a square air filter and his model is an oval, horizontal fitting filter, with prefilter.

    Thank you for any help.

Look on the engine valves for the model and type numbers. Give these I should be able find of the parts you might need and maybe even maintenance kit.

But all you would need is the air filter, plugs, oil, and and oil filter if the engine has one. Be aware that if this engine has sat usused over an year the carburetor will probably need a good cleaning.

Thank you for the response.  As the mower is presently back in my mother's barn, I will need to either get back up there for a visit or have her pull this information off the engine. To the best of my knowledge, it is a 22HP B&S V-Twin.  That's about all I can recall and now kick myself for not taking photos to have as memory items.

I will keep this chat open and will reply again when I have that information.

      Thank you.

      Sir,

I visited my mother's barn this Saturday and I found the B&S 22HP had a sticker that was clean and not faded that reads: Build Date 02 10, Serial 10 0216 YG 11539.  The best Husqvarna label I could find under the seat reads Product 960430087 00 and had Serial 032210A003311.   Again, Model YTH22V42LS.

The maintenance part label inside the hood is completely worn away and the most I could make out was 42"...Bla... (3) 539 11 20-78 (obviously his three blades), but that was it.  The rest of the label is white with a few hints of black where text had been.

I started the mower again without any issues, 1st turn of the key, and cut her grass.  I noticed it loses power on the up-hills and when idling in the driveway, it has a very rhythmic rough idle, but never dies.

The oil filter is Husqvarna orange but is faded.  I did identify the air filter as the 792105, which I just found on Amazon and it looks like the same.

Thank you in advance for any information you may have.

I contacted my local Husqvarna dealer and asked these same questions, but I was told because the riding mower was not bought from them they couldn't be certain of giving me accurate information, so the gent declined to respond other than giving some apologies.  The place my father originally bought it from 7 years ago in his town is no longer in business.

I don't understand.  It's a lawn mower.  A riding lawn mower.  Husqvarna YTH22V42LS.  If I had the maintenance parts sticker readily available to me, this would be a cinch, but unfortunately it is faded and worn away.  When I search the internet for parts, what I do find are actual parts to the make-up of the mower itself (nuts, bolts, seat, etc).  Nothing points me to oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, and other seasonally changed items.

      Sir,

I am happy to say I have the information!  I received a photo of the stamped numbers.

      So without further ado:

      MODEL 40H777

      TYPE 1421 B1

      CODE 100216YG

      Thanks,

      Lucas

The orange oil filter is PN 798576 .

On the rough idle the carburetor may need cleaning because it sit a long time unused.

As the power up hill if the engine slowing down then there is problem with it otherwise it could be a worn drive belt.
