    Question:
My Husqvarna 445 service manual states that when lubricating the needle bearing I should "remove the clutch cover by loosening the two bar nuts." The Husqvarna 445 only has ONE bar nut which made me question the next step which is "Lubricating involves engine oil dripping in the centre of the clutch drum as it rotates." Would it not make more sense to lubricate the needle bearing with grease instead? If I should use "engine oil" does it matter what kind? Just curious if anyone has an opinion? Thanks!

The instruction are for earlier design that did use two bar studs with nuts, it has since been to the current design.

Yes more sense grease the bearing but most users don't the clutch and piston stop tools at hand to remove the clutch to access the bearing directly; hence, the reason for the oiling instructions. I would SAE30 oil sparingly as to not soak the clutch and drum.
