    Question:
Husqvarna XP 2 cycle oil specifications
    Details:

I have a Rancher 445 chainsaw and an Echo string trimmer.  I use the recommended Husqvarna XP 2 cycle oil in the fuel for the chainsaw.  I would like to use the same gas/oil mixture for the string trimmer, but the instructions for the string trimmer specify 2 cycle oil that meets ISO-L-EGD (ISO/CD 13738) and J.A.S.O. FC/FD specs.  The Husqvarna XP 2 cycle oil does not show what specs it meets.  Can you tell me if the Husqvarna XP oil meets those specs?  thank you

     Hi Jeff,

Thanks for contacting the Answer Army to post your questions,

Our XP oil is being rated at this time, we fell that the quality of our XP oil is much greater than our "Low Smoke" oil. Our "Low Smoke" 2 stroke oil meets the JASO-FD standards for ISO-LEGD. Our XP oil is for professional performance so we do expect to blow out the JASO-FD ratings.

    I hope this helps.

So here we are 5+ yrs later and the Husqvarna XP Oil WEBPAGE still does NOT give the ISO/ JASO rating? (BUT the Low Smoke still has it in the FIRST LINE.... sad marketing failure),

I think marketing is at the root of this but its not a failure from their perspective...

Classic FUD (Fear Uncertainty Doubt) e.g. the manual for my chainsaw says 50:1 for Husky Oil and 33:1 for JASO-FB oils with the sub text being "do you really want to risk not using our oil?"

There are plenty of good quality JASO FC/FD oils around which are good enough for racing two stoke motocross and go karts engines. My guess is the Husky oil is FC/FD but they don't want you buying the alternatives.

Incidentally Yamaha do exactly the same with their range of Yamalube oils for motocross bikes...
