    Question:
I have a new 455e Rancher chainsaw. After about 30 minutes use, the throttle lockout will not disengage. The throttle will only go to just over idle.

      Kenneth,

The "throttle lockout" works in conjunction with the "throttle control" (trigger). There is a spring inside the handle which may have broke If the "throttle lockout" is not releasing when the trigger is released. But before we go down the repair route, If the chainsaw is still new, then Is it still within the warranty ? And If so then I would recommend If you still have the "Sales Receipt" taking it back to the store where purchased Or taking it to a Husqvarna Repair Dealer.,

However, I f your repair warranty is beyond expiration, and you would want to repair this yourself then I would recommend downloading the Illustrated Parts List (IPL), and If you are handy, refer to the IPL and dissassemble the handle where the "throttle Lockout" and "throttle control" are located. You will need to inspect the parts and insure that none of the plastic parts broke, and that the spring has not broken either. If None of the parts are broken then it maybe possible, that the spring has some how just become dislodged from its proper position, and simply needs to be re-assembled. (Note: which is really not so difficult If you are a handy person). If any of the parts are broken then obviously you will need to replace them, and again the IPL will give you the part number. Here is a link to the downloads for Husqvarna IPL's: /images/us/support/manuals-downloads/

Simply, click on the Link, and then type "IPL 455", find the one that closest matches your model and year of chainsaw, then click on download. Open the document after it downloads, and you will have the complete parts list for your Chainsaw. Then print the document, and you will have diagrams to look at, and all of the part numbers.

If your Not comfortable with dissassembly of parts after studying the IPL drawing, or If the Chainsaw is still within warranty, then I would recommend referring the problem to an Authorized Husqvarna Dealer.

I hope this helps, and If I can be of any further assistance then Please let me know.

      Karla

PS. I am Not a Husqvarna Representative or a Repair Service, Just an experimental chainsaw person. (Note: I have several of these model 455 ranchers, and have dissassembled these components myself for cleaning, & lubrication),

        Karla,

Thanks for the info.  I disassembled the handle (three Allen head bolts) and found that the trigger had broken.  Seems like a simple fix, just need to get the part.  Thanks again.
