    Question:
316el chainsaw stopped working suddenly and will not start again. No problem moving the chain brake back and forth. What are the most likely parts to check/replace?
    Thank you, Tom D.

      James,

If you haven't tried some of the basic things, then I would try them first. I assume your Model 316el, is an  all electric model which plugs directly into a 120 V outlet with No battery.

Here is what I would try If you have Not tried this already,

      1) Plug the chainsaw into a different outlet and don't use an extension cord, there is a possibility that there is something wrong with the cord, or possibly the outlet.

      2) Wiggle, bend & twist the plug connector  just slightly, and try to see If it will start when doing this, If it does then you may have a bad plug on the chainsaw.

      3) If you are familiar with how to take the bar & chain off on this chainsaw, then I would remove them there should be a large plastic gear on the inside, and you may see a safety switch which is designed to shut the chainsaw off If something jams up the bar and chain. Make sure everything is clean, and the gear is in good condition & lubricated, and then put it back together. If you are not familiar with how to take this apart then I suggest taking it to a Husqvarna Repair Center.

I might also suggest that you Google "Youtube Videos'" and search for troubleshoot Electric Chainsaw video, You might Not find your specific model but may find one that looks similar, and gives you some suggestions.

I hope this helps, and Oh I forgot to mention, If it is still within Warranty then I suggest just taking it to a Husqvarna Repair Center.

PS. I am Not a Husqvarna Representative or Repair Center, just an experimental chainsaw person.
