Question:
I have a Husqvarna 65 chainsaw that I bought new in the late 1970's? It still runs really strong. It came with an 18 inch chain bar made in Canada. I want to replace the chain bar with a Husqvarna brand bar but can't seem to find a match? The Husqvarna part number on the bar does not show up on any dealer's parts lists. Any ideas how to find a matching bar and chain that will work with the existing sprocket?
Details:
Here is a picture of the Model and the Serial Number. I bought this saw in northern Michigan. Also, the chain bar has these numbers etched into it
0-380-60- 3/8
1650 0707 TW
HUSQVARNA
Made in Canada patent pending 1971

Here is a picture of the chain bar. The numbers are a bit fuzzy in the photo. I hope this helps.

What gauge and length are looking for? .050 or .058 gauge and the bar available are 16, 18, 20, 24, 28. Suggest 20" bar but it is your choice.
The same 3/8" pitch bar that fits the 395XP and 570 will work as they user the large mount (Oregon D009 mount).

Is there an advantage to having a .058 gauge? One of my concerns is that the new bar and chain do not ruin the 7 tooth drive sprocket that is incorporated as one piece into the clutch drum ? I'm not sure what gauge came with the saw originally? Is there any way of determining what year my saw was made by the indicated serial # in the above photo ?
Thanks Eugene for your help

Patric,
I believe the following bar will fit your chainsaw: Husqvarna HT 380 - 60.
Here are the Specifications:
Bar Specifications:
The only part that has me a little confused is that you stated it was an "18 inch", I believe based on your number information, "0-380-60- 3/8" that you have a 3/8" pitch & 60 drive link (DL) chain. This bar length that has 60 DL would be a "16 inch bar". The recomended bar numbers that I listed are "16 inch & 3/8 pitch, and use 60 DL" .
You can verify your chain by counting the number of Drive links to make sure it is really a 60 Drive Link chain.
I hope this helps, Please let me know if you need additional information.

The over all length of my bar is 18 1/2 inches. That measurement is with the bar removed from the saw and laying flat.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help Karla. I counted the drive links and there are 60. The links are larger than some I've seen though. The bar measures 18 1/2 inches laying flat and removed from saw.
