    Question:
I was leaning toward getting a 450X between Nov. '18 and Feb. '19. I recently read a user review that said he had interference caused by an in-ground dog fence and the only solution was to separate the boundary wires by 20 feet. Is there a list (official or unofficial) of known compatible/incompatible pet fences? I have a Petsafe dog fence and my neighbors on either side also have fences, all three are different brands. This will likely be a make or break issue for me.

I would ask the Automower guy.....you can find his link here in the forums

Ditto what PS said.  If its any comfort, I have dog fence neighbors on either side of me, and have experienced no interference in the 14 months I've had Sheldon.

      Michael:

I recently had a Husqvarna 450x installed and I have a DogWatch invisible fence. The outer boundary wire for the mower was laid very close--if not directly beside--my dog fence wire.  The first and second day the mower was running, everything worked great. On the third day I began getting unexplained "no loop signal" errors resulting in the mower freezing on the spot (very occasionally) at the outer boundary wire.

My mower dealer came by to check on the errors and noticed the mower was acting very strange near some sections of the boundary wire. Then he remembered I had the dog fence and asked me to turn it off to see if that was the problem. I did and it was!

However, my dog fence controller has an intensity dial that essentially narrows or widens the signal. I simply turned down the intensity (to narrow the signal) and my mower worked great from that point on--with no errors or freezing. We didn't have to change the placement of the wires at all--and the dog fence still works as intended.

I believe any dog fence will cause this type of problem with any robotic mower that used a loop wire for its boundaries. It's just one intense radio signal cancelling out or interfering with another radio signal. That's the reason the FCC limits the strength of certain kinds of radio signals (like Family Radio Service) and requires a license for operating certain types of radios (like HAM).

I hope that helps others who may have the same problem.
