    Question:
Purchase husqvarna chain saw model 235-e last year and did not use it until yesterday Sept.28 2011.
Problem I have is when I engage the chain brake by push handle forward. Then started the engine I could not pull the handle back to release the brake. I tried this several times and was unable to release the brake. I know enough about repairing my own equipment to disassemble them. I tried to remove the chain cover, but it refuse to budge. Look up your equipment diagram to see how things were arranged. Then I proceeded to disassemble the unit by tapping brake off drum. Then looking at *** mechanism and found that I could not twist it. Removed cover for *** mechanism look at it arrangement. My conclusion is that the spring is to powerful to pull the handle back. Is there a lesser powerful spring I can employ so the braking mechanism can be used. I had to remove the one in the unit. I did replace the spring again, but was still unable to pull the handle back. I would appreciate any help from you that I can get.

    Thank You
    Bill

Thank you for contacting the AnswerARMY.

It is upsetting that you have had this concern.

The chain brake spring must be very tight, it is designed that way. If the spring did not have that tension as it were needed in an emergency it may not be able to stop the chain. This is a safety issue and must not be tampered or altered in any way. I would ask that you take it to your authorized Husqvarna dealer and ask that they test the chain brake for operation.
