    Question:
I recently bought a YTH21K46 mower and a HU46 Bagger, Model No.: H246SL. There were no shoulder bolts supplied with the tractor or with the bagger (see page 5 Assembly Step 1 of the bagger). I had to special order them. I received them about one week later. Then I found that the four mounting holes in the back of the tractor chassis was not threaded. I bought a 5/16- 18 tap and a T-handle to solve the problem, WHY, was this manufacturing process missed?? Also, because of this problem, I thought I had better check all grease points, sure enough nothing was greased, WHY was this overlooked. I also found that all four tires was under inflated WHY ?? Should the LOWES store where I purchased this lawnmower have serviced it before I picked it up ?? Thanks in advance for your answers. Jerry Hill

Thank you for contacting the AnswerARMY.

It is upsetting that you experienced this.

The holes are not supposed to be threaded the bolts are self threading bolts.

A couple years ago we stopped putting bolts in the tractor and added them to the collection system instead.

However the older inventory of collection systems could have been shipped with out the shoulder bolts, I would have thought those were all sold 2 years ago. It is surprising to find there is still older inventory out there.

Upon finding this you should have contacted the selling dealer to report the bolts were missing, or the local authorized service dealer should have been familiar with the change. The local dealer could have installed the bolts for you and filed a warranty for the bolts.

Again those are self threading bolts.

Tires are over inflated for shipping, this indicates someone had let air out. The areas of lubrication should be lubricated during the first service or during setup.

Scott W., Thank you for your update. Once I mounted the bagger, greased everything and aired up the tires, the mower does a wonderful job. I had to retire my John Deere after 27 years of faithful service of mowing my 3 acres. This time I wanted to try another brand. Barring the start-up problems, I'm satisfied with my new Husqvarna.

      Thanks Again,

       Jerry Hill
