    Question:
I have a 455 Rancher and a 125c weed trimmer. Both start hard and run poorly. I have changed the gas, replaced the fuel filter in the chainsaw, cleaned the air filter and muffler screen, sprayed carb cleaner. A friend has suggested taking the carburetor apart and blowing compressed air through it and checking the small apertures. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you for contacting the Answer Army.

Blowing compressed air thru the carburetor WILL damage internal parts, especially the check valve disc in the center of the carburetor.

After carburetors are taken apart, they should be "rebuilt". This means cleaning the carburetor and then installing new gaskets, diaphrams, screen, fuel inlet needle and other components. Usually these parts come in a kit.

Carburetor adjustment is also very critical.

Use a 2 stroke air cooled engine oil that is JASO FD rated and 89 or higher octane gas at a 50:1 mix ratio.

Do not store this oil/gas mix for longer than 30 days. 60 days if a fuel stabilizer is used.

Please contact an authorized Husqvarna dealer in your area for evaluation and repair.
