    Question:
I ordered a Husqvarna 125 BVx leaf blower on October 9th from Northern Tool & Equipment in Minnetonka, Minnesota. It was a special order because they didn't have it in stock. The order number was 32327650.

I picked up the blower from Northern Tool & Equipment on October 19th. I used it for the first time on October 23rd. I mixed the oil that came with the blower with 92 octane gas in a brand new one gallon gasoline can. I pumped 1/2 gallon into the can from the pump, added the oil, and shook the can. I then added another 1/2 gallon of gasoline and shook the can again.

I filled the gas tank of the blower and it started up with no problem. I did notice that the blower temporarily stalled if I squeezed the trigger real hard, but otherwise it ran just fine.

I used the blower for the second time on October 29th. After using it for approximately 1/2 hour, the blower quit running. I started it up, it ran for a few minutes, and then died.

I took the blower to Northern Tool & Equipment where they tried to adjust the carburetor, but they had trouble starting it at all. I left it off for service.

On November 4th, I talked to a manager at Northern Tool & Equipment because they hadn't been able to fix it. He offered to order another 125 BVx which I agreed to. I'm waiting for the new blower to arrive.

On your web site, I see other owners have had the same problem. One cause has been oxygenated gas. I got my gas from the same pump cars used so I assume it's oxygenated. The owner's manual doesn't say anything about using non-oxygenated gas.

When I get my new blower, should I replace the fuel with non-oxygenated gas? If so, can I buy this at a regular gas station? The blower was originally shipped from your factory in North Carolina which has a warmer climate than Minnesota at this time of year. Could the factory adjustment for the carburetor be wrong for use in Minnesota?

It doesn't seem right that a brand new blower would suddenly quit running. If I have problems with the second blower, I plan to take it back and get a refund.

What can I do to help insure I don't have problems with the second blower?

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for using the Answer Army to post your questions.

The only way you would be able to find non-ethanol based fuels would be to find the pre-mixed product in the can that you can get at most automotive retail chains and some Wal-Marts. I have attached a link below as an example. It would be a good idea to take the new unit to an authorized service center (not Northern Tool) and have them richen up the carburetor settings. Also never leave fuel in your machine any longer than necessary. Fuel with Ethanol losses it volatility within 3 to 4 weeks and if left in your machine will cause the jets of the carb to gum up.

I have also attached a link to find the nearest authorized service center.
