    Question:
I purchasd a handheld Husqvarna 125B blower in June of 2008 and as performance goes I have been really impressed. However the quality of construction has not measured up to what I thought Husqvarna represented. As the general manager for a state botanical garden I viewed Stihl and Husqvarna in the same catagory of high quality landscape equipment. This is the reason I am so disappointed to discover that my blower experienced oil leaking due to lose screws and a recently discovered cracked piston housing which propably occurred due to its "soft" alloy metal! Two questions: 1)is this product on a recall list? and 2)is this problem or defect covered in a warranty that the Husqvarna people would honor? I look forward to hear your response!
    Details:

Purchased from Lowes for personal use.  Husqvarna model number 125B.  Serial number 20074500019.  Dealer number 269584.

    Hi James

Thanks for contacting the Answer Army to post your questions.

I'm not sure how your 125B would be leaking oil as it is a two stroke engine and doesn't have oil in the crankcase. I would be curious to know where it is leaking from, and what screws were loose? If the problem with your blower was "soft" alloy, they would all break down since they are made of the same material. There are no open recalls on this model, and from what is sounds like, it is the base bolts that came loose and probably created an air leak that leaned out the fuel mix and caused the piston to lock up in the cylinder, and that's where your crack came from. That is something that we would cover under the normal warranty period, which would be 2 years and from the date of purchase listed in the question, the unit is 1 1/2 years out of the warranty period.

Thanks again from the Husqvarna Technical Services Team
