    Question:
I am disappointed that you would sell a saw with a gas cap problem (swelling) and did not take any action to warn or assist your customers with the problem. I had to find out about the problem on the internet. Before I did that, I tried to take the saw into an authorized repair dealer and what a joke that was. One place wanted a $40.00 deposit and the other a $20.00 deposit to take the saw. They said if the repairs were not covered by the warranty, they would keep the deposit. They would not tell me if the problem with the cap was covered under the warranty, nor would they tell me what the problem was when they had to or should have known what the problem was. They were only interested in getting money. I can’t believe you would sell a saw with a known defect and then back it up with shady repair shops.

    Hi Don,

Thanks for contacting the Answer Army to post your questions.

Unfortunately our saw or gas cap is not the culprit in this situation, the ethanol in the fuel is the problem. What happens is the ethanol has a concentration of alcohol which when the fuel and alchol starts to separate it causes the gas tank and or cap to swell which causes the problems you are experiencing. Again unfortunately we have no control over the fuel or ethanol content in the fuel, that is government mandated and all gas stations use a blended fuel. The best thing I can recommend is to drain all of the fuel out of the machine when not in use. This will cut down on the swelling.

With all that said, depending on the model and date of purchase you may be able to get a replacement cap. Just call our consumer line at      1-800-487-5951 and tell them whats going on.

Thanks again from the Husqvarna Technical Services Team.
