    Question:
Working on a MAC 4600 that will only run at full choke. I first discovered that the pulse hose was disconnected. Replaced with new hose and tried again - same issue, will not run except at full idle - replaced diaphragm in carb, no difference. The saw will also die if I give it to much throttle. Not sure what I'm missing, but it would seem to me that there is either an air leak or a clogged carb. Any ideas?

    Thanks, Ernie

    Hi Ernie,

    Thank you for contacting Husqvarna.

You are correct in assuming that you have a fuel delivery issue or an air leak. It sounds like the carburetor needs a good cleaning and possible rebuild. You could also have some restrictions in the fuel filter/hose area. The carburetor would need to be reset too. But that has to be performed by an authorized service center. Once you know everything is good with the carburetor I would start checking for air leaks with a pressure/vacuum gauge. Hope this helps.
