    Question:
Dear Friends, I recently acquired a model 288 chainsaw with a serial # of 54701XX, if I'm not mistaken this saw was manufactured in the 47th week of 1995. Is this correct? Likewise, I would like to know the specific 288 model that I have, as it would appear there were several versions available at the time; ie. 288, 288Lite, 288XP and 288EPA. Furthermore, I would like to print the "appropriate" owners manual and IPL sheet for this model (as I need to make some repairs and want to have the correct part numbers), but when I review the online documents there are several to choose from (with varying dates), could you please specify the correct documents if available. Thank you kindly in advance for your assistance. Steve

    Thanks for the question.

I have sent the ipl to you on your email. The breakdown and owners manual for your saw is the same as 1993 model. Thanks and hope this helps.

    Have a great day

Hi Greg, thank you for the reply.  If I could I'd like to ask you another question regarding this 288.  For some reason, the choke lever arm doesn't seem to be fitted correctly (see photo).  When the choke lever is off and in the run position the end of the pull arm is "lost" under the rear case lip, as if to suggest the arm is to short.  I've measured it and it is 2.6" total length but I'm unable to confirm whether or not this is the proper one or not.  So I don't know if it's just the wrong length or If I have something else wrong on this machine.  The carburetor is a Tilly 228C with what looks like the A4 choke shutter shaft.  And according to Tillotson this is the proper combination.  Any thoughts on this.  Thanks.
