    Question:
    16" bar for a 455 Rancher?
    I'd like to buy a Rancher 455 20" saw as it looks like a reasonably priced saw that can handle a 20" bar. But at the same time I'd like to be able to switch to a smaller 16" bar when I don't need the 20" length. But I'm surprised that I can't seem to find a 16" bar for the 455. I would think (naively perhaps) that I could find a bar from 14 to 24" to easily fit most of these saws. Is that not true? If not true, why aren't these bars more interchangeable?

    Thanks

    Joey,

    Thanks for the question.

    To change on the 455 Rancher is not complicated once you know the formula. The bar you need would be a small mount pattern with 3/8" gauge and .050" bar. These number break down as follows:

    HT= Replaceable tip sprocket

    2= small mount

    8= 3/8"

    0= .050"

    60= number of chain lengths (60 is needed for 16" bar)

    The bar you need would be HT280-60 or Husqvarna part number 608 00 00-16

    This same formula can be used for bars between 16" to 20" We do not recommend using a 14" (the saw can over-rev) or a 24" on the 455 Rancher.
