You mentioned that you put in a new spark plug, which is a good first step. Next, when was the last time you changed the air filter? The air filter must be regularly cleaned to remove dust and dirt in order to avoid:
The motor could be flooded with gas. Be sure not to completely fill the air purge while pumping it.
