    Question:
The starter cord on 128LD will not recoil. I purchased this reconditioned string trimmer 3 months ago and have used it only a handful of times. The starter cord is now fully extended and will not recoil. I have tried to remove the starter coil housing from the back of the unit and the 2 torx screws in the center of the coil are torqued down so tightly that I cannot loosen them by hand. Are these screws intended to be so tight? If I can loosen them, should I be able to get the cord to retract without having to replace the starter cord unit? Thank you.

    David,

With it being a reconditioned unit I cant say for sure, but it should come off if you are using the correct tools. When you do get it off then yes you should be able to rewind the starter cord back up. Now if the recoil spring is broken then that part will need to be replaced, but you shouldn't have to replace the entire starter assembly.

    Thanks for your question.
