with the brake off the saw (husqvarna 395 xp) in the lock position i can't get the brake in the unlocked position so i can't get it back on the saw ??? craig
Craig, You may have removed the clutch cover with the brake engaged. It is recommended that you dis-engage the brake before removing the clutch cover. But now that you have it off, here is what I would recommend: Remove the bar and chain and set it aside. It also may help If you have a friend that can give you a third hand, since its a little tricky with two hands, and holding the saw in place. Now with just the cover in hand, position it over the bar bolts but don't push it all the way on so its flush, but tilt the top edge of the cover in leaving the bottom out a bit. Next move the brake handle forward and back just a little to see If you can engage the brake handle into the cover. While holding in firmly on the cover again keeping it tilted pull back on the brake handle to disengage the brake. If this works, then the cover will now go on flush and you have fixed the problem. Leave the brake handle in the disengaged position, and remove the cover, install the bar and chain, re-install the cover, and bar nuts, tension the saw and your done. If this does not work for you I recommend an authorized repair center to re-install the cover for you! I hope the above Info helps.
