    Question:
I have a 55 Rancher chainsaw purchased in 2004. The engine model # is 4HVXS.0535AA. While changing the chain, I noticed what appeared to be string caught under the clutch plate. I removed the clutch to find that what I thought was string was actually a bushing made of a fiber material that had frayed. I looked on the illustrated parts list, but could not find the bushing. I called my local authorized Husqvarna service store, but the parts guy there could not find it either (looking at same diagrams I was). I called Husqvarna customer care today and they did not know a part number nor could they find this part on their diagrams. When I asked to be transferred to anyone who may know what the part # is for this bushing, the representative said the ONLY option to speak to the corporate office was to ask the question via AnswerArmy.

I love Husqvarna chain saws. In my opinion, they are superior to almost any others on the market. However, it is hard to fathom no one in the organization can be contacted to determine a part number of a part that SOMEONE included in the design of my saw. This level of customer service simply does not match the superior level of quality of your products.

Foch, there is not suppose to be a fiber bushing there, However here is a picture that may help you. If the bushing is inside the sprocket, maybe someone used that instead of the proper bearing. Also next to the sprocket or directly behind it is a fiber gear, this is the gear for the oil pump, again see attached diagram picture. I hope this helps. (See Attached file)

        Karl,

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond.  I have seen the attached schematic.  The bushing is made around the sprocket on the clutch housing (see photos).  I sent these pictures to Husqvarna and they replied "After a closer review, what appears to be a washer or nylon spacer is simply excess string or debris that has melted due to high heat then cooled off and formed into a washer like part."

Not sure how the letters on the bushing happened to form upon melting.

        Karl,

Just wanted to follow up.  Husqvarna was exactly right.  The letters that appeared to be stamped into the "bushing were melted there from the drum part.  Incredible.

I am truly humbled.  I think I have learned a very valuable lesson from all this.  Please accept my sincere apologies.  Thanks for your help.
