    Question:
How do I change the starter coupling on a 125L string trimmer? I try to change the bolt but I can't stop the crankshaft from turning while trying to remove the bolt. Any suggestions?

      Tim,

If your trying to remove a bolt that is connected to the crankshaft, then yes you will have to stop the crankshaft from turning. This can be accomplished by using a tool called a piston stop, You unthread the spark plug and then install the piston stop into the spark plug hole. Then when you start to turn the crank shaft, the connecting rod will push the piston against the stop, and the crank will not turn any further in that direction. Some of the old time mechanics would take a piece of starter rope, if they didn't have a piston stop, and stuff the rope into the spark plug hole leaving a tail of piece hanging out, so when your done you can pull the rope out. Just be careful with the rope that you don't get it stuck in one of the ports in the cylinder or end up leaving a piece of rope inside the engine. I hope this information helps.
