    Question:
125B blower purchased in 2011 worked great about a year then would not run. Heard whistling sound when depressing purge bulb. Found and repaired cracks in fuel line both inside and outside of tank near connections, replaced spark plug, used new fuel. Afterward blower would only run with choke wide open and throttle depressed. Fuel line is not picking up fuel. Depressing purge bulb just blows air in and out of fuel tank. I disassembled fuel system and cleaned purge bulb ports. Fuel filter was clean. If there is a check valve in the system it is not working. Fuel lines still will not pick up fuel.

When you are depressing the purge bulb is the air coming out of the line where the fuel filter is connected? An easy way to test this is to look for bubbles in the fuel when pushing the bulb in. If this is the case then you need to switch the two fuel lines around where they connect to the carburetor.

       Thanks for the reply.

Yes, there is foam coming from fuel when I depress the bulb but I have never had the lines loose at the carburator, only between the bulb and tank. If I've never had them loose and if I switch them now, will the carberator function properly? It did run well for a year or so before it stopped. Even though I found cracked fuel lines they never leaked fuel and I now don't think that was the real problem. Can the fuel flow reverse itself or could there be a check valve that is hung open? I couldn't find it if so.

From the primer back of the primer bulb there are two plastic tubes. One of those connects to the metal tube coming out of the top of the carburetor. The other one goes into the fuel tank, but doesn't connect to anything. There is another plastic tube that comes out of the fuel tank and connects to the bottom of the carburetor. The other end of this tube is the one that connects to the fuel filter. If they aren't hooked up correctly the blower will not run.

Today's fuel is not what it used to be and it eats away at anything rubber. So it doesn't surprise me that your fuel lines may have had cracks.

With the way that the carburetor is built there is not a way for the fuel to flow in reverse.

Hopefully this helps fix your problem.

You are right, Linden. When I first found the cracked lines the fuel filter line was indeed broken off. I had forgotten about it (senior thing). But I had evidently attached it to the purge bulb line since there was a little plastic connector there. (there should have been one on the correct side as well but it had evidently broken off and was in the fuel I poured out). When I put it back on the side going directly into the carb it started up and is running again. Thanks very much for the info,  you have been a big help!
