Question:
The power steering triggers on my new Husqvarna Snow Blower model 1830 EXLT are impossible to engage, the triggers will not move. Is there a fix for this problem?
Details:
I am afraid too much force may break something. I called the Husqvarna dealer/service facility, explained the problem, and received the comment "I heard a little bit about this issue; you must bring it in."
The machine is still under waranty, however, I am holding off the service visit (10 day turnaround) until the snow season has ended. Is there anything I can do: lubrication, adjustment, etc. The triggers work just fine when the drive handle is NOT engaged.
Answer
John, I have the 27 inch wide version of this machine. I am also disappointed with the quality of the product. Is there any "springy" feel to the triggers? I had a simular problem right out of the box with one trigger. The return spring for the clutch trigger was not even installed from the factory.

Mark,
I forgot to answer your question in my first posted reply. Answer: The triggers are impossible to squeeze when the machine is moving and blowing. If however, I release the drive handle, the triggers return to a normal and smooth operation (not springy at all)

Hi Mark,
The Husqvarna Dealer (North Jersey Landscape Supply in Flanders, NJ) fixed the problem. They ordered new adjustable drive cables and the 1830 EXLT steers just fine. I cannot say enough good things about my dealer.

I have same machine. Bought it last month. The trigger pull for the left tread sticks. It gets worse as the hydro-static is pushed to all the way forward or back. It takes both of my hands to disengage it.
The steering issue appears to be a major problem with all of this model. The cables on mine are adjustable. I tried adjusting them, it had no effect.
Also, the switch for the hand warmers is poorly designed, it's easy to get flipped onto the off postion. The hand warmers don't seem to get very warm.
