    Question:
I have a 223L trimmer, which works great. Only problem is that the guard on it is so small that you get absolutely covered in grass and other debris you cut. This is my 5th trimmer, and while it is by far the best, it is the only one that has ever had such a small and inadequate guard.

Does anyone know if they make a larger guard that would offer more protection?

    Thanks,
    Larry

I just purchased a new 223l and I have the same issue which is my only complaint,of my past trimmers I have used most of the debri ends up on my shoes and pants, after using this one for the first time yesterday my arms and stomache got tore up "did not plan on wearing long sleeves in summer".Looking at the photo on the box the shroud looks large. The only thing I have found is a brush cutter kit 537048504 which is $40 which I did not expect to spend after paying $250.If you don't mind answering does your 223l have a dinging "bell sound" at idle that goes away when revved? It's not very loud at all but audiable enough to hear.I assuming it is the clutch freewheeling,The first one I purchased I heard the noise and took it back, did not even trim with it and got another which makes the identical sound?

Good morning. I agree....I got pulverized weed whacking my hillside to the point where I think I'll have to buy one of those full face shields to provide facial protection from all the projectiles that just fly everywhere. Thank goodness I had eye protection on and long sleeves for the initial use.

I too hear that dinging sound, and agree with your thought on what it is.

It is pretty crummy to have to upgrade the guard, because this certainly was not an entry level trimmer. Think I'll try and tough it out until it gets too hot to wear long sleeves and long pants.

        Take care,

        Larry
