    Question:
    Hi
I have an Husqvarna chain saw, a Rancher 44
On the plate on the side is this

    Husqvarna Sweden

    Parcica 44 ASS191.75

    3441 055295

The saw will not start ( carb filter is clean, the exhaust screen is clean, the Champion plug RCJ6Y is gaped at .025”, fresh gas) PS this saw has never been put up with
gas in it always emptied and run dry.

My question is how should the screws on the side H L T be adjusted just to get it to start?
Any suggestions short of spending another $70 to have it serviced will be welcomed.
Or should I just load the Rugger 44 Mag (:

    Thank You
    Chuck

Chuck, the "L" adjustment (idle adjustment)  is the only one you should adjust to get the saw started, I usually start with mine one full turn CCW from fully seated. If the saw starts and after it warms up and the "L" is optimally adjusted, then adjust the "T" adjustment which is the clutch speed, and is adjusted until there is no travel in the chain movement or clutch is not moving, and finally the "H" adjustment which is full throttle RPM's, mine is typically about 2 turns CCW from fully seated and optimally set for Max  chainsaw RPM's around 12,500 rpms. And sometimes, I have to go back and adjust the "L" another 1/4 turn open (CCW), it I don't get a good response to full throttle.

As far as Not starting, did you check or replace the fuel filter in the fuel tank? Does your Chainsaw have a primer bulb, and is the primer staying full of fuel, if it is emptying after you pump the primer, you may have a bad check valve in the primer bulb, and need a new primer bulb.

Does the chainsaw have good compression? , Did you check for spark?  As a last resort, I have used a little "tune-up' spray, follow the directions on the spray can, I use it If I think I have a stuck piston ring or something seems strange with the compression, I spray it in thru the spark plug hole, and let the stuff sit for an hour or so, then put the plug back in and see it it starts.

Oh, also when trying to start the engine after 2-3 pulls and it doesn't start remove the spark plug and inspect it, If its wet with fuel, your probably flooding the engine, and if its dry then your not getting fuel, and I would check your carburator.

      I hope this helps.
