    Question:
    Husqvarna t435 chainsaw won't start
    Details:

After cleaning my chainsaw and returnig all covers back in place I am unable to start the saw.

It fills like after 2-3 pulls of the starter cord there is a resistance coming back from the engine itself.

I thought that I may have not palced the crankcase cover proretly. Is there a spesific corect direction of the pawls?

    Thanks

      Nadav,

I am assuming the "Crankcase cover" , that you mean the Starter (which has the pull cord wound up inside).

Remove the Starter and Front handle again.

Now, with the starter off, and in your hand pull on the cord, and make sure the hub moves (This is just a quick check that your starter is OK).

Next, Inspect the starter hub, and make sure it is in good condition with no scrapes, or damaged from the pawls to the center hub.

Check the pawls on the flywheel, they are spring loaded, and if you push them outward, they should spring back to the center.

If everything checks out, then your ready to put the starter back on, (Note, I always pull out about a foot of cord before re-installing).

Hold the cord while putting the starter back on, and as you feel the pawl engagement release the cord. The Starter housing should now be flush, and all the way on the chainsaw, then snug up the Starter mounting  screws.

      Finally Install the handle.

      I hope this helps!

      Nadav.

Also in answer to your question, the pawls and springs only go on one way, and unless you took the pawls off of the flywheel for some reason, the pawls should not be the problem. However, If you did remove them from the flywheel then yes you could have them on the wrong way.

      Thanks for your replay.

However, It doesn't seems to work.  The ngine doesnt start and there is a resistanse coming back from the saw.

Is there a spesific position for the flywheel before covering the cover back?

btw - I did not take off the pawls or the flywheel.

      Nadav,

No - The Starter housing should be able to be installed in any flywheel position. So, I am guessing that you don't have a starter problem. Did the starter pull ok, when it was removed from the chainsaw ? What else did you take apart during your cleaning ?

Did you remove the clutch cover and brake handle, bar and chain ?

Was the brake handle properly re-installed with the brake in the "Off/ Reset" position ?

Did you remove the clutch ?

Did you remove the spark plug ?

I would recommend working your way backwards, re-checking the parts and pieces that you put back on during the re-assembly process.

Do Not try to run the chainsaw until you are sure you have discovered the problem, or you will most likely damage something else.

Originally you stated - "Crankcase cover", Did you take the cylinder and piston out of the crankcase ? There could be many reasons the engine will not turn-over if you went to that level of repair, I would also Not recommend that repair unless you are very familiar with internals of engines.

Please let me know, How I can help you.

      Nadav,

Here is a link to an IPL drawing for a "T435" chainsaw: /images/ddoc/HUSI/HUSI2011_AAaa/HUSI2011_AAaa__34.pdf

Print the document out, then using the "Description List", Please  list every and All  parts that you took apart.

I should then be able to figure out what is causing the binding.

Also - Please make sure that no "foreign object" has fallen into the chainsaw that may be causing this problem.

Again, I hope this helps - Just provide your list, and I will be glad to work with you to solve the problem.
