Question:
Husqvarna model 142 Chain question.
I have a Husqvarna Model 142 16" chainsaw which needs a new chain. It seems that these chains are very difficult to find; the only ones all the big box and online stores carry are for the earlier serial numbers - the later ones used a .043 (1.1mm) gauge chain which I can't find. anyone know of a solution?
I'd thought about replacing the bar with a more common .05 guage, but don't know the pitch of the chain sprocket.
Thanks!

Answer
Rich,
Here are a couple chains that I found at Oregonproducts.com :
It looks like the sprocket is either a 6 tooth or 7 tooth, and your correct about the different pitches. It looks like for the Model 142, they made ..043 and .050 gauge in pitches of 3/8 and .325, from what I gather the 6 tooth is 3/8 and the 7 tooth sprocket is .325.
I hope this helps, Also most small hardware stores that once sold chainsaws can usually order Oregon products, so if you check the number of teeth in your sprocket, you can order one from the enclosed list.
Or you can go to the attached link, and select a different gauge or pitch for your Model 142, they also make some nice combination bar and chains, and it looks like they have ones that will match a 6 tooth or 7 tooth sprocket.
