    Question:
I need to replace my very old and heavy chainsaw with something more reliable and lighter. I have been looking at the 445 Husqvarna, that is until I was told by a nearby dealer that I should steer away from any 400 series Husqvarna. That they are very cheaply made and are not very reliable, and I will probably experience a lot problems with it. One dealer told me that because the saw is such a problem they will not even sell any of the 400 series saws. I am surprised that such a well known brand would even put their name on such a problem saw.

      Jerry,

I have several 400 series chainsaws, and love them all. I do not see any problems with them, other an occassional maintenance problem but even then, they are easy to fix and the parts are readily available at reasonable prices.

Unfortunately, I do not have a model 445 so I can't speak to that model specifically but I am fairly sure looking at the other and similar Models like the Model 455 , that the saw design is probably similar just a few less "CC's". I have been using my model 455's for almost 4 years, and it starts up every spring with one or two pulls and easy to start, I keep the engine very clean and keep the chain very sharp, add fuel and oil, and thats about it. Oh, I do check the drive sprocket, clutch, and brake periodically, I cut anywhere from about 8-10 cords of firewood every year,

If you have any specific questions, Please give me a shout

PS. I am Not a Husqvarna Representative or Authorized Repair Center, just an experimental chainsaw person.
