    Question:
I have a 345e chainsaw and would like to know if there is an adjustable oiler that can be substitued by changing body/case parts? Currently, in heavy cutting, I have to use an manual olier can to lube the chain while cutting. Something like on your model 353 chainsaw would be nice.

    Thank you.
    Details:

#345e is an auto oiler.  #353 has an adjustable oiler to use in heavy cutting.

      Jerry,

Just a thought on your oil pump problem, I don't see any easy way of Installing an adjustable oiler in the existing crankcase because of the molded shape.

However I noticed on E-bay that a Model 345E  New oil  pump sleeve (cylinder) part# 537154801,  sells for about $5.80, and you may be able to shop around and even find one more reasonable or used, Anyhow, I believe what controls the flow of oil is the diameter of the suction and discharge holes in the pump sleeve.

Looking at a similar sleeve the hole size appears very small maybe 1 to 1 1/2 millimeters, Without possibly destroying your oil pump If you had a spare sleeve, you could probably easily drill it a 1/2 or less  millimeter larger, then make sure there are no burrs on the inside of the sleeve after drilling. Take your pump apart, and install it into the new sleeve with just a little bit larger holes (Note: a very small change will probably make a big difference in the amount of oil, so don't over drill ), and I will bet you will get more oil through the pump.

Also, If you ever need to go back to less oil, you can change back to the original sleeve.

Just an Idea, and I hope it helps!

Thanks for your thoughts, Karla. I'll search out that part and see if I can drill it to the specs you mentioned. It soulds like it should work. I just need a little more oil when cutting into very hard hardwooods.

      Jerry,

Glad, I could help. Also once you get the  sleeve, I would suggest checking the existing hole size. If you have access to a small "Number" drill bit size, or some small hardware stores sell "number" drills individually. Check the current size, and then maybe go one number drill size larger, I think the key will be  to make a small change in the diameter which actually will give you a lot more volume.

I would be curious what the size is also, so if you do check it, please send me a note.

      Thanks,
