    Question:
I was wondering what thoughts were on universal oil mixtures. I have seen a product called pr* mix you can use you imagination for the letter in the * as to not name any brands (not sure if that's a no no here).

this oil mix product claims to work on all 2 cycle engines and all ratio mixes with one simple measurement. I'm just curious to know what people think of this? Seems like a great idea but doesn't seem good for equipment? Thanks

      Ryan,

I have seen pre-mix products for fuel, and have used them, the ones typically sold in cans. But all of them that I am familar with are stamped with the pre-mix ratio on the can, ie. 50:1, or 40:1, etc.

I have not had any problem using the pre-mix, which was a Husqvarna Promotional Offer, and wish I had some more.

But as far as a universal pre-mix that will work on any chain saw,  I have not heard of that yet, and now I am curious about that one too! I don't think I would try that on one of my old antique chainsaws ( fuel/ oil ratio: 16:1). But it might work fine on the new chainsaws that are typically either 50:1 or 40:1, and are fairly close in engine oil ratio's.

Please keep me posted on that one!

PS> Iam not a Husqvarna Representative or Authorized Repair, just an experimental chainsaw person.

      Ryan,

I still don't kow the answer to your question!

Thanks for the heads up, and I did find a product called "Pro-mix", which is a 2.6 oz container, and I assume you mix with one gallon. It does state on the container that it will work for "50:1, 40:1, 32:1, and 16:1" ratios, which is surprizing.

      Anyhow, keep me posted!

Yup that's the stuff I'm talking about. It even comes in large containers that you tilt and measures out the amount so you don't have a dozen of those small ones laying around. But i just don't see how a universal mix can be good for everything? Wood be nicer than have three different mixes sitting around getting old faster than I can use them and I only need so much bonfire gas! Lol

Thanks Ryan, and I agree it definitely would be more convenient.

I will try to keep my ears open If I hear of any one  using it, or anyone having any problems with it.

Again, Thanks for the heads up.

Yup, I've used it In a weed wacker and poulan saw but neither of them ran good to begin with ha. So hard to tell! Just didn't wanna start using it in my brand new husky 455 rancher!

      Ryan,

I agree with you. I think I would try it in all your other 2 cycle engines and see if it holds up, I would also suggest checking the muffler spark arrestors periodically if you have any engines with them to see if its building up carbon.

I think I still have a gallon and half of Husqvarna Engine Oil, so I will be mixing my own for a while.

Again, Thanks for the Info, and it really sounds like a great product if it will work and give the same durability to the engines.
