    Question:
I have a new model 240 chainsaw. I have noticed that the oil reservoir is not decreasing over 2 tanks of fuel. Any steps I can take to check the oil pump etc. Thanks, Terry

Hi Terence, thanks for using Answer Army!  If you are noticing the oil in the tank is not decreasing nor the chain and bar are not receiving oil, then the oiler may not be working properly.  There is a possibility that the filter in the tank could also be defective.  But before determining these decisions, try these testing techniques:

    - Aim the tip of the bar at a light colored surface about 20 cm (8 inches) away.  After 1 minute running at 3/4 throttle you should see a distinct line of oil on the light surface.

    • Check that the oil channel in the bar is not obstructed. Clean if necessary.

    • Check that the groove in the edge of the bar is clean. Clean if necessary.

    • Check that the bar tip sprocket turns freely and that the lubricating hole in the tip sprocket is not blocked. Clean and lubricate if necessary.

Please contact your local servicing dealer to have them check out your saws oiling system.  Please visit www.husqvarna.com to find a servicing dealer near you.
