ok, now I see the I/D plate.  yes, it is 2001 model, built in the 49th week of 2001.  no doubt about this fact.  the good news is that they both came from Sweden and not china.  they both can be restored to new condition by the right mechanic, or even a novice that follows instruction and is willing to humble himself and demonstrate the necessary patience to do it professionally.

Thanks Robert Eugene for your reply's definitions :D !

Really surprised as the 01 plate is in much better nick (looks like its only been used a couple of times) compared to the 09 plate thats been well used and abused. The previous owner of the 09 plate saw thought it was more likely to be 1999, but he has had allot of saws pass through his forestry hands.

Going to take them both to a trusted dealer to get a 2nd opinion...

      Thanks again,

      Ben

I don't know about Robert but I personally have seen equipment brought into my shop that is 30 years old looking new where it was well care for and then to only have an abused one year old brought in looking like been to heck and back.

If you don't mind lets us know what the second opinion is.
