    Question:
Husqvarna 445 Spark plug. I recently decided that I was going to change my spark plug for the first time, not because my saw wasn't starting I just figured it was time to change it. I go to a local husky mechanic and picked up my plug and changed it but my saw would only start and when I press the gas it boggs out and stalls. Figuring maybe its a dud I go back to the mechanic and explain the problem we tried 5 or so different new plugs all have same bogging reaction, we try the original plug it works, also we tried an old plug he had laying around it also works. Why does my saw only like old spark plugs????

the variable is heat range.  apparently the new plugs are offering less excitement into the atomization of fuel/air mixture inside the combustion chamber. this occurrence is unusual especially if the plugs advertised heat range cross reference with the old plugs.

when re-jetting velocity carburetors I encounter the same phenomenon and find a need to use different heat range plugs in order to ignite the mixture sufficiently. it can be overwhelmingly frustrating.

Would you happen to have the numbers form the new plug and the old ones? They are of different numbers might be able find out what difference might be.

Some of the smaller Briggs engines has similar problem but it that older plugs will not in the newer engines due to an ignition change.
